The seventh foreign Symposium at the Characterization of Porous Solids (COPS-VII) was once held within the Congress Centre in Aix-en-Provence among the 25th-28th may perhaps 2005. The symposium lined contemporary result of primary and utilized study at the characterization of porous solids. Papers when it comes to characterization equipment reminiscent of gasoline adsorption and liquid porosimetry, X-ray suggestions and microscopic measurements in addition to the corresponding molecular modelling equipment got. those characterization equipment have been proven to be utilized to every kind of porous solids equivalent to clays, carbons, ordered mesoporous fabrics, porous glasses, oxides, zeolites and steel natural frameworks.

Lb. 3. THEORETICAL BACKGROUND To analyse the scattering data we adopt a model of cylindrical mesopores on a 2D hexagonal lattice as sketched in Fig. 2. For such a system the scattering intensity can be written as (1) where the first term represents the Bragg scattering from the 2D ordered array of cylinders, with the form factor F(q) and the structure factor S(q), and the term Is(q) accounts for the diffuse scattering resulting from micropores and other inhomogeneities of the powder. For a perfect 2D hexagonal lattice the spherically averaged structure factor constitutes a sum of terms of type m\kL\k(q)lq2, where mhk is the peak multiplicity (mhk=6 for hO and hh, and Whk=12 otherwise), and is the delta function of the Bragg peaks at positions (2) The form factor of an infinite cylindrical pore of radius R imbedded in a uniform matrix is F{q) = 2nm-pcY- qR (3) where pm and pc represent the scattering length densities of the matrix and cylinder, and J\ is the Bessel function of order 1.
